August + September Review

I haven’t done this in a very long time, but here are some photos from the end of August and beginning of September. Not sure if I’m going to start making blog posts frequently again like I used to, but I liked these ones a lot and felt like they deserved an honorable mention at least. They’re mostly from some of the first travels I’ve done since the start of the pandemic.

Camera gear updates: I’ve been shooting more medium format, on both of my Mamiyas, the C220 and the M645. I’ve been really happy with the way the medium format pictures I’ve been taking lately look. Some examples are number 2, 6, 8, 9 & 10. They come out so crisp, though obviously the low-resolution copies that I’m posting here don’t quite have the same luster to them. I also recently purchased a rangefinder, (Canon P!), and am excited to see how the first few rolls that I’ve taken with it turn out. It only has a 35mm lens, and I usually like to use a 28mm, but if need be I can get a 28. I like the idea of a rangefinder and have used my friend Aaron Dancho‘s (with whom I took the final photo in Atlantic City) Leica a few times and I like the focusing system and generally how much less bulky rangefinders are than SLRs. Getting used to not having a through-the-lens light meter will be an adjustment, but long term it’s probably a good thing that I get better at judging lighting situations anyway. More updates to come on that soon.
